  • Product Description

Newly made reproduction of the German WWII Mauser K98 bayonet frog. Made of black russet leather.  Just like the originals, the base is almost a centimetre thick. It is constructed with aluminium rivets and stitched right through. These frogs are so robust, I personally believe they can only be ripped or broken through deliberate vandalism – or by Spitfire ground attack! These will fit many bayonet scabbards including: German K98, Czech VZ23 & VZ24, Yugoslavian M24, 24/46, & M48, Turkish, Brazilian and more.

    • Weight: 0.90kg
    • Length: 24.5cm
    • Width: 6cm
    • Will fit any belt up to 4.3 cm wide

    Without upper retaining straps

This is a copy of a 1938 k98 frog, so it comes without an upper retaining strap. The ones with straps were originally only used on cavalry bayonet frogs, and are often called "cavalry-type"; in 1939 they were ordered to be included on all newly-manufactured frogs to limit bayonet loss, but by that time over a million of this early type had been manufactured and were already in service. This earlier 1930’s model was not an uncommon piece of kit throughout the war: possibly because the retaining straps were not popular as they prevented quick access. Hence, the 1939-added straps were often left undone or in some cases removed altogether.
