Includes sling, leather-covered metal keeper and black stud. The German K98 sling was highly distinctive, having a unique (and somewhat over designed) method of attachment. It was held by a bar on the front barrel band, the sling being turned on itself and passing through a buckle. On the butt of the rifle the sling was inserted through a slot (opening) in the wooden stock, a leather “keeper” was attached by a stud to the first hole in the end of the sling, thus holding it secure.
