The sax blade was a knife and tool has been used by different German tribes, such as the Saxons and the Lombards, between the 4th and 10th century. It was worn horizontally on the back of the belt where it was always close at hand. When the main weapon was lost or destroyed, the saxmesser (seax, sax or scramseax) was mostly used as a last resort in combat, but more often than not it was used as a regular knife for more mundane daily tasks.
The blade looks clean and sharp.
The handle is thicker than other knives I have used. I have size 9 hands and the thicker handle allows for great grip when performing larger cutting motions.
The timber colour looks great with the shine of the blade. Sean Lynch on 28th Sep 2016
