This cap is made of 100% heavy cotton, padded with three layers of wool felt.
Arming caps serve the same purpose as padding does in a modern motorcycle helmet: that is to say, they’re warm, comfortable, ensure a snug fit and, most importantly, help absorb the shock of an impact.
For the medieval warrior, they also offered protection against the friction of mail against their heads. In short, this is an important piece of kit for any re-enactor!
Dry Cleaning Recommended.
