This style of helmet seems to have been mainly manufactured in Italy, yet it would be a mistake to class it as an "Italian" style, as they were made for the broader European market: Italy being a major arms and armour exporter of that time. This style of barred visor helmet helmet often found itself on heraldic devices. This helmet is 16 gauge (4.5 Kilos) and the 1cm thick bars are less than 2cm apart, it also completely encases the head and neck, so with some minor alteration this armet should be good for SCA combat. As for myself, I have a big noggin (62cm) so I found it a little tight to wear, yet I could get it on, so if you take a medium hat size, I imagine this will be a good fit. As decor, this helmet is a real beauty, any history buff would love to own it.
